Discussion: Billy Bell’s Lunge Dance Collective – The Collective

Well, you know Billy Bell’s (S7) ground-breaking dance ensemble that debuted last year – remember, where Adam Shankman revealed the news of the Top 11 to Billy and Robert Roldan (S7)? Lunge Dance now has its own website, and the members of the collective have been posted! You’ll be happy to see many familiar faces joining this year, including…

Kathryn McCormick (S6/7), AdéChiké Torbert (S7), Kent Boyd (S7), Lauren Froderman (S7), and Robert Roldan (S7).

You might also recognize Cheryl Smith and Ryan Ramirez, who both made the green mile of season seven.

And filling out the rest of the ensemble: Chantel Aguirre, Alex Anderson, Ali Castro, Jeremy Coachman, Alex Cottone, Mason Cutler, Rachel Donev, Michael Figueroa, Tara Langdon, Maria Martin, Brooke Naylor, Sammie Otano, Sam Raffel, Shana Saffer, Lauren Sigler, and Chelsea Thedinga.

SYTYCDC3: Finale Review

SYTYCDC3 Final Four

Sorry for the lateness of this review, but here we go! This is basically a post of my thoughts and favourite moments from the finale. I’m going to be honest and say that I haven’t been following the season each week. SYTYCD Canada has always been missing something for me. I haven’t been able to figure out what it is, but each season has been disappointing for me. I must say, season 3′s finale show was impressive! Amanda Cleghorn, Janick Arseneau, Denys Drozdyuk and Jeff Mortensen were still in the game for the title of Canada’s Favourite Dancer. SPOILER: If you didn’t watch, the winner was…Denys! I thought it was a pretty fair game for all 4 dancers, anyone could’ve walked away with the prizes. Congrats to Denys though!

Video: Dancing with the Stars Season 11 Week 6

They’ve had story week…and acoustic week…and TV theme show week…and now rock week. Can’t they just stick to actual dancing?

This week Lacey Schwimmer (S3) and her celebrity partner Kyle Massey danced a tango.

This week they also had a rock and roll themed dance marathon. The judges eliminated teams about every 30 seconds and the longer each team lasted, the more points they earned. Lacey and Kyle came in 4th place.

She did a really great job with her character, and we’re super proud to see her going after something she really loves. For those who don’t know, Jeanine has been focusing more on her acting career but still dances a little bit on the side.

Video: Kent Boyd, Cat Deeley to guest star on Disney’s new show “Shake It Up”

Seems like things are looking good for Kent Boyd (S7)! Using his charming youthful looks, he already booked his first job on Disney Channel’s new show Shake It Up. Each week the show features a special guest dancer and he was the special artist for that week. Cat Deeley also speaks in the video about her guest appearance on the show.

Video includes clips of Kent dancing in front of the camera. Pretty cool, enjoy!

Season 8 Wishlist: Justin Giles For New Choreographer!

One of my favorite choreographers is the talented Justin Giles. His work is beyond some of the most intricate found in the dance industry. Classified under what SYTYCD would consider “contemporary,” Justin’s style is so unique that it’s the fresh vibe SYTYCD needs to get out of its rut.

Check out his choreography to Damien Rice’s Prague performed by SoulEscape The Co. at iHollywood Dance 2010.

Dancing are Will Loftis, Matthew Peacock, Austin Goodwin, Adrian Lee, and Jeremy Hudson.

So this is to all those big names up in the SYTYCD producing business: go give Justin Giles a call and have him choreograph. You won’t regret it!
